Magnet Student Workplace Program

This student hiring grant program offers funding to new businesses that hire students in any meaningful work integrated learning (WIL) experience. 

50% Student Wage Subsidy, up to $5,000

70% Student Wage Subsidy, up to $7,000

For students belonging to underrepresented groups, including women in STEM, Students with disabilities, visible minorities and Indigenous.

Pre-approvals

Having trouble finding the perfect candidate? Magnet allows the position itself to be approved, giving you time to find a new hire. 

Repeat Applications

Find a student you like? Keep them onboard. They are eligible for 3 applications per year.

Flexible Student Working Hours

The student can work part time, for a minimum of 15 hours per week. They can stay at school and continue helping your business.

Requirements

Canadian citizens

Only domestic students can apply. Permanent residents and protected refugees are also eligible.

Hired as employees

Students working as independent contractors are ineligible for this grant.

Enrolled in a post-secondary program

Students will provide proof of enrollment from an accredited institution, they do not need to be actively taking classes.

Students are unrelated to the applicant

To avoid conflicts of interest, the program implements measures against nepotism.

BioTalent Canada's Student Work Placement Program

This student hiring grant program offers funding to new businesses that hire students in a role deeply involved with biology. Roles in Bio-Tech. and Healthcare are preferred by the program coordinators.

50% Student Wage Subsidy, up to $5,000

70% Student Wage Subsidy, up to $7,000

For students belonging to underrepresented groups, including women in STEM, Students with disabilities, visible minorities and Indigenous.

Post-Secondary Institutions Eligible

This grant is unique in that Post-Secondary Institutions can apply.

ECO Canada Student Work Placement

This program offers funding to up-and coming businesses who innovate and work with environmentally conscious technology.

50% Student Wage Subsidy, up to $5,000
