The Student Workplace Placement Program (SWPP) is open for the Summer of 2022!
Delivery organizations are currently accepting applications, and now is the time to get them in. As the summer placement period (May – August) progresses, funding becomes scarcer – the sooner an application is made, the better your chances. The summer is especially competitive because post-secondary students take a break from their studies to pursue work placements, so don’t miss out on this opportunity to grow your business.
The Canadian government has confirmed the following subsidy benefits:
50% of gross wages paid to the student, up to $5,000.
70% of gross wages paid to the student, up to $7,000 if the student is part of an underrepresented group. Please note that it is very easy to qualify as being part of an underrepresented group. Learn more here.
Found a student that you like and fits with your business, but can’t afford to keep them around for longer?
Repeat applications for students are available! We’ll make additional applications for the student, so you can keep them around and see the returns of an increasingly independent and valuable team member.
Is this program as flexible as it used to be?
Very much so! The program supports all kinds of student working hours, from full-time to part-time. Additionally, the student can be at school, or not at school (enrolled, but not actively taking classes). We recommend that the student works at least 15 hours per week, so you can get the most of out of your application.
